Numeralul cardinal exprima un numar, o determinare numerica a obiectelor.
Ce vom invata:
– sa spunem un numar de telefon;
– sa exprimam varsta;
– sa ne referim la sume de bani.
NUMERELE DE LA 1 LA 10 IN LIMBA ENGLEZA
0 = zero
1= one
2= two
3 = three
4 = four
5 = five
6 = six
7 = seven
8 = eight
9 = nine
10 = ten
De retinut:
Numerele de telefon se exprima in engleza cifra cu cifra.
Exemplu:

3. In urmatoarele cazuri, apar modificari in interiorul cuvantului:

1. Numarul 20 are forma specifica: twenty.

100 = one hundred
200 = two hundred
300 = three hundred
400 = four hundred

De retinut:
1. Se foloseste forma de singular – hundred – nu cea de plural – hundreds.
2. Forma hundreds se foloseste in engleza in expresia hundreds of… cu sensul de sute de… fara a mentiona un numar exact.
Exemplu:
Hundreds of people took part in this project. = Sute de oameni au luat parte la acest proiect.
NUMERELE COMPUSE DIN SUTE, ZECI SI UNITATI IN LIMBA ENGLEZA
De retinut:
1. Numerele compuse din sute, zeci si unitati se formeaza din
cifra sutelor + and + cifra zecilor + cifra unitatilor.
Exemplu:
257 = two hundred and fifty-seven
805 = eight hundred and five
579 – five hundred and seventu-nine
Exemplu:
How much is a plane ticket to Paris? (Cat costa un bilet de avion pana la Paris?)
It’s 249 (two hundred and forty nine) Euros. (Costa 249 de euro.)
NUMERELE DE ORDINUL MIILOR IN LIMBA ENGLEZA
De retinut:
1. Numerele de la 1000 la 10 000 se formeaza cu cifra miilor + thousand
Exemplu:
2, 000 = two thousand;
4, 000 = four thousand, etc.
2. In engleza, cifra miilor este separata de zerouri prin virgula:
Exemplu:
5,000 = 5 000 (cinci mii).
3. Numerele de la 1,100 la 1,900 se exprima dupa cum urmeaza:
1,100 = eleven hundred
1,200 = twelve hundred
1,300 = thirteen hundred
1,400 = fourteen hundred
1,500 = fifteen hundred
1,600 = sixteen hundred
1,700 = seventeen hundred
1,800 = eighteen hundred
1,900 = nineteen hundred
4. Celelalte numere de ordinul miilor se exprima in limba engleza astfel:
2,376 = two thousand three hundred and seventy-six
5,094 = five thousand and ninety-four
6,001 = six thousand and one
5. Zecile de mii se exprima in engleza dupa cum urmeaza:
10,000 = ten thousand
26,498 = twenty six thousand four hundred and ninety-eight
6. Sutele de mii se exprima in engleza dupa cum urmeaza:
100,000 = one hundred thousand
694,378 = six hundred and ninety-four thousand three hundred and seventy-eight
Exemplu:
Last year the company had a profit increase of 350, 000 (thirty-five thousand) Euros.
(Anul trecut firma a avut o crestere a profitului de 350 000 de euro.)
NUMERELE MAI MARI DE UN MILION IN LIMBA ENGLEZA
De retinut:
1. Numelere de ordinul milioanelor se formeaza in limba engleza din cifra milioanelor + miilion
Exemplu:
1,000,000 = one million
4,000,000 = four million
7,000,000 = seven million
2. Zecile si sutele de milioane, bilioanele si trilioanele se formeaza in engleza dupa cum urmeaza:
425,000,000 = four hundred and twenty-five million
7,000,000,000 = seven billion
6,000,000,000,000 = six trillion
Exemplu:
7,590,000 (seven million five hyndred and ninety) old lei means 759 (seven hundred and fifty-nine) ron.
(7 590 000 lei vechi inseamna 759 de ron.)
